There’s a reason more people are turning away from busy hotels and crowded tourist destinations in favour of regional farm stays.
People are craving something slower.
A chance to properly switch off, spend time outdoors, reconnect with family and friends, and enjoy a weekend that feels simple and genuine again.
That’s exactly what first drew us to Primrose Farm in Ravensbourne.
Surrounded by rolling hills, bushland and national park, the Ravensbourne district has a completely different pace to city life. Mornings are quieter, the air feels cooler, and there’s a calmness to the area that’s hard to explain until you experience it yourself.
It’s close enough to Brisbane to make a weekend away easy, but far enough away that you genuinely feel removed from the rush of everyday life.
That balance is part of what makes Ravensbourne such a special place for a farm stay.
At Primrose Farm, we’ve found guests are increasingly looking for experiences that feel more personal and connected to a location rather than standard hotel accommodation. They want somewhere they can gather around a table, enjoy a BBQ, cook good food, and simply slow down for a few days.

And the Ravensbourne region offers plenty to explore beyond the farm itself.
One of our favorite local spots is The Dairy Bakehouse, which has quickly become a weekend tradition whenever we’re staying at Primrose Farm. Set amongst the beautiful countryside, it’s the kind of place that perfectly reflects the character of the region — relaxed, welcoming, and focused on simple food done really well.
Nearby Crows Nest has also become one of our favorite places to visit for a long lunch or relaxed dinner. The town has some fantastic country pubs, cafes and restaurants that make the area feel vibrant while still holding onto its country charm. Whether it’s a quiet pub meal after a day exploring or coffee and breakfast before heading back to the farm, it all adds to the experience of slowing down and enjoying regional Queensland properly.
That’s probably one of the biggest reasons farm stays have become so popular.
They’re not just about accommodation anymore.
They’re about experience.
People want fresh air, open spaces, good food, meaningful connection, and somewhere that feels authentic. They want their weekends to feel restorative rather than rushed.
At Primrose Farm, we’ve tried to create the kind of stay we’d look for ourselves — somewhere comfortable, welcoming and thoughtfully designed, while still feeling connected to the character of the land and the surrounding region.
A place where mornings feel slower, conversations last longer, and weekends become less about rushing between activities and more about genuinely unwinding.
And in many ways, that’s what makes farm stays different.
They give people the chance to reconnect, with nature, with family and friends, and with a slower pace that’s becoming harder to find in everyday life.
